We finally have the green light: we're going to rock Skopje during the 2009 Summer School!
Last year, we had an incredibly successful and fun week with 19 pioneer Rock School students, which we kicked off with a group jam session and ended with an unforgettable open-air concert (listen here).
This year, we're bringing an almost entirely new group and will be working on a new program. Participants can sign up for workshops and master classes, including:
- performance workshops (both for singers and for whole bands)
- improvising (per instrument)
- rock music techniques in singing
- famous guitar solos
- famous bass riffs
- rythm section workshops
- singing/keys (accompanying)
- singing for non-singers
Of course we'll form bands and work on band coaching. The week will end with a concert at which all bands will perform the songs they choose at the beginning of the week. The concert will be on Friday August 28; I'll post details on time and location soon. We hope to see plenty of Mitrovica faces in the audience!
The Rock School team will be: Milos, Edon, Zana, Erhan, Mladen, Goran and Xhemil (regrettably, Misko can't join us).
The Fontys Rock Academy will be represented by Sophie, Roland, Ruud, Joerie, Tycho, Joosje and, of course, Gerdien. I'm coming with my colleague Srdan, and Tory will be joining us from Sarajevo.
NGO CIVIL, with which MwB has a long history of successful cooperation, will be working with us on logistics and PR to make sure we have a great week in Skopje.
The 2009 Summer School has been made possible by the U.S. Embassy in Pristina, the Dutch National Committee for International Cooperation and Sustainable Development (NCDO) and Lionsclub Heerhugowaard-Langedijk.
More info will follow shortly. Let's make it an unforgettable week!
